![]() Artwork used in this tutorial is by Elias Chatzoudis. You can find his work Here In order to use his work you must purchase a license which you can do from Here Supplies You will need the plugin DSB Flux - Radial Smox which you can download from Here My Supplies Here OK, open a new file sized 600 x 600. Add the star tube which is included in my supplies. Go to your Effects tab and find your DSB Flux plugin and select Radial Smox. Change your settings to the same as mine as shown below. ![]() When you've done that it should look like my demo below. ![]() Merge all layers and then make 3 copies. On the first copy, pick a colour from your pallete that you would like to use that compliments your main tubed image. Now go to your colourisation tool and select Change to Target. ![]() Change your brush shape setting to the circle shape and change your size setting to quite a high number so it covers the area quicker. Change Hardess to full. Step to 34, Density to full, Thickness to full, Opacity to full and mode should be Colour. Once you've done that, run your brush over the image you have just created, you will see that it changes colour. Merge all layers and then save that image. Go to your second copied image, select another colour and run your brush over the image, merge all layers and save. Go to your last image, choose another colour, brush over again, merge all layers and save. You should now have three saved files in three different colours. Now we are ready to create the main image, so open a new file again, sized 600 x 600. Do not add any background, it must remain transparent. Add the frame I have supplied and add your main tubed image plus your watermark and merge visible. Don't Merge All. In my demo, I have added my text around the ciruclar frame. For this particular tutorial you can do this by going to your Preset Shapes tool, selecting the circle shape. Make sure you Check Retain Style, Anti-alias and Create as Vector and change your font to Create as: Floating. Draw a circle and stretch it out so the border of the circle sits just below the top of the circular frame. Move your mouse over the circle and wait for the A sign to appear with a little curved arrow. When you see that sign, you can then type your text and it will curve around your circle. If you don't see the A sign and type your text, it will simply type in a straight line. ![]() If you don't like where your text appears click undo then move further along the circle line and add your text again. When you are happy with where you have added your text click apply. You will now see dotted lines around your text. This is where you can apply a dropped shadow effect. Go to your Selections tab and select None to remove the dotted lines. Go to your layers pallete and delete the vector layer. This will remove the circle you drew, leaving only your curved text. (If you have any problems understanding this part of the tut, you can find a full page tutorial on how to create curved text by clicking Here When you have added the curved text to your image, save this image as a PSP file. Now it's time to put it all together. Open your Animation Shop. Using the Animation Wizard, change your speed settings to 30 and call up your 3 saved files. Hit the Animation Previewer and watch the colours alternate. Now you need to call up your main image with the curved text. You will have to copy this image 3 times to match the amount of frames with the alternating colours. Click on your main image to make it live, right click, then click on Copy then right click again, then select Paste after Current Frame. You will now have two frames. Repeat this process once more so you end up with 3 frames. See my demo below. ![]() You should now have two lots of frames, one containing 3 frames of the image with the curved text and the other with 3 frames containing the alternating colours. You now need to paste the frames with the curved text on to your alternating colour frames. To do this, click on the first frame of the image with the curved text and then hold down your Ctrl Key and press the letters A and C (Ctrl A + C) This will copy all the frames. Now go to your other set of frames with the alternating colours and click on the first frame to make it live. Hold down your Ctrl Key and press the letters A and E (Ctrl A + E). This will now paste the frames with the curved text on to the frames with the alternating colours. Slide the image centrally and release. Hit the animation previewer and watch it change colours. That's it. All done. If you need any guidance with this tutorial, please get in touch. All tutorials are registered prior to publication Copyright © Flashgraphicstutorials.com 2008
